Family Immigration

If you have a parent, spouse, child (over 21), or sibling who is a U.S. citizen or a spouse or parent (and you are either under 21 or unmarried) who is a legal permanent resident, he or she may be able to petition for you to immigrate to the United States. Based on such a petition, you may apply for legal permanent residence (a green card). This status is valid indefinitely with document renewal every 10 years.

Many of these categories, however, require a wait before you are eligible to apply for a green card. click here to link to the U.S. Department of State visa priority dates.
